Bare root tree planting

As winter is here;

Bare root tree planting should be underway. If you are planning a new hedge or orchid, bare root plants/trees are the most cost effective way of achieving this. You should allow 10% for failures, and close planting is necessary to ensure a thick hedge is achieved. If you are using small specimens up to 1m tall, staggered notch planting or small pit planting is the best way to plant. You will need to use canes and rabbit guards to make sure the hungry wildlife don't kill your new plants. The plants should be planted every 25cm as a guide.
